Aruba is best known for its gorgeous beaches and active casino nightlife, but there is another amazing adventurous side to Aruba that’s worth exploring. Dave and I spent some time in Aruba in December of 2024 and explored as much of the island as possible.
You can see a more complete description of the Best Adventurous Things to do on the Island over on Chasing ADVNTR.
10 Adventurous Things to do in Aruba
1️⃣ Explore Arikok National Park
Arikok National Park offers a rugged and diverse landscape compared to Aruba’s beaches. You can explore it on your own by car, starting at the Visitor Center where you’ll get maps and information. The park features small hiking trails and coastal walks with stunning views, including the incredible Quadirikiri Cave, known for its natural light filtering through the roof. For a more unique experience, visit the Conchi Swimming Hole, accessible by jeep or hiking (or by a guided tour).
2️⃣ Snorkel or Scuba Dive
Aruba is a destination for snorkelers and divers. Explore the marine life at several snorkeling spots along the island's beaches or book a boat tour for deeper dives. It's the perfect way to discover Aruba's underwater beauty.
3️⃣ Relax on the Best Beaches
Aruba is famous for its beaches, each offering unique experiences. Eagle Beach is known for its clear turquoise waters and soft sand, while Palm Beach offers a lively atmosphere perfect for swimming and water sports. Baby Beach, Arashi Beach, and Mangel Halto Beach are all excellent options for snorkeling and relaxation (these were our favorites).
4️⃣ See Flamingos and Iguanas
Flamingo Beach, part of the Renaissance Wind Creek Aruba Resort, is the only place to see wild flamingos up close. You can also spot iguanas on this private island, accessible through the resort or by purchasing a day pass.
5️⃣ Visit the Natural Bridge and Bushiribana Ruins
Located on the eastern coast, the Natural Bridge is a cook formation. Explore the nearby Bushiribana Ruins and enjoy hiking and biking trails along this scenic coastline. We hiked from here along the coast to another 3-way natural sea arch.
6️⃣ Swim in the Cave Pool
The Cave Pool, located just off the eastern coast, is a hidden gem (although it is getting more and more popular). After descending a ladder and walking along sharp rocks, you’ll find yourself in a protected pool nestled among cliffs. It’s worth the adventure to swim here, especially early in the morning when it’s quieter.
7️⃣ Go Horseback Riding
Take a horseback riding tour across the rugged eastern side of the island. These tours often end at scenic spots like the Conchi Swimming Hole and offer a unique way to see Aruba's natural beauty.
8️⃣ Take a UTV or Jeep Tour
For an exciting way to explore Aruba’s off-road terrain, hop on a UTV or Jeep tour. These tours offer thrilling rides across the island’s dirt roads, taking you to popular spots like Arikok National Park and the Natural Bridge.
9️⃣ Bike Aruba
Aruba has a growing network of biking trails, offering both mountain biking and easier road rides. Rent a bike and explore the island at your own pace, taking in the beautiful scenery along the way.
🔟 Kiteboarding and Windsurfing
Aruba is a world-renowned kiteboarding destination. Head to Baby Beach and the southeast coast to see plenty of kiteboarders in action, or take a lesson to try it out for yourself.
